Maps of Israel and the Middle East |

The map shows distances from Israeli key cities to borders, and explains Israel's preoccupation with security. Tel Aviv is less than 20 KM from the West Bank Palestinian border. Haifa is about 60 KM from the international border with Syria (now occupied Golan Heights). Ashqelon is only 11 KM from Gaza. All of these cities are in the range of rocket and artillery fire. It is a brief drive from any eastern border point to the sea. Jerusalem, the capital, is bordered on all sides by territory that is part of the West Bank. Contrary to fantastic notions held by some people, Israel is not a large country. It is not even a small small. It is tiny. As the maps below show, Israel is a really tiny country. |
