Here the stone is lifted and we are permitted a glimpse of the seething nastiness of one of the Sabeel conferences, presently attempting to poison the minds of American and Canadian Christians. This one was in Chicago . The audience consisted of “mainline clergy and activists”.

We have heard Rashmawi talk about how Israelis have murdered Palestinians while they were painting graffiti simply meant to express their political pain. We have heard Rashmawi tell us about how the “peaceful protests” of the Palestinians never resulted in the injury or death of Israeli military during the first Intifada. Did you know that the ISM is a peaceful organization? That is how they are being portrayed at this conference.

In addition to the lies and distortion, we even see a deranged hatred:

One man stood up and said that when he visited the territories, he felt so much pain on behalf of the Palestinians that he wanted to explode. What does this mean exactly? Adam Horowitz said that living in Israel is a struggle against war, racism and sexism.
He mentioned the good work of “anarchists against the wall”…..

Meanwhile, here is a bowdlerised version of the conference. It hardly sounds like the same event. All virtuous concepts of ‘human rights, peace, justice, reconciliation”, etc, etc, with no reference to near-exploding audience members or anarchists. Nor do we read of George Rishmawi’s bizarre blood-libel story that Israel uses special gas that hurts the muscles of Palestinians, although when asked the name of the gas, he pretended the canisters for this fantasy gas are always quickly whisked away by the IDF so that nobody will know what kind of gas is being used.
