Boycott at work

Dear Daniela Dueck,

Alas I am unable to accept your kind invitation, for reasons that you may not like. I have, along with many other British academics, signed the academic boycott of Israel , in the face of the brutal and illegal expansionism, and the slow-motion ethnic cleansing, being practised by your government.

There is of course nothing personal in this. I am aware of the honest arguments for and against a boycott, and that even some Israeli academic support the boycott and many do not. Whatever your views, I hope you will understand that my view is based on a widely shared moral outrage. You are welcome to report my position (if you wish) to anyone you may like to.

Dear Prof. Seaford

Let me introduce myself as the book review editor of the Scripta Classica Israelica. This journal publishes articles on various philological and historical subjects related to ancient Greece and Rome . It aspires to match the standards of the major journals in the field and at the same time welcomes works by young classicists. Each submitted paper goes to two anonymous readers and once approved, is published usually within the year.

We would like to include in our 2007 volume a review of the book: D.M. Schaps, The invention of coinage and the monetization of ancient Greece the review should be ready by 15 february 2007 and include no less than 1000 words and no more than 1500.

Would you be interested in reviewing it?
